Simon came to visit Carol in Tasmania. This photo was taken on the east coast on the scenic route from Hobart to Launceston. It was great to have Simon here. We also drove from Launceston to Hobart via the highlands and saw snow. Photos of the snow later.

We've arrived! This is our new home and it has a good feel to it - it already feels like "home". We've organised insulation in the ceiling space and also under the floor of the rooms that don't have carpet. We've had the carpet removed from the dining room and laid in the second bedroom. We need to get the floorboards in the dining room sanded and coated. The kitchen/dining space then offers great potential for remodelling at some time in the future.

Carol starts work on Monday and Colin returns to Brisbane and to work in West End. Colin will be back in Tasmania to stay from mid June.

The weather is wonderful - cool and crisp. The sunshine streams into the bedroom and lounge first thing in the morning and then into the dining room for most of the day.

We've had one trip to Hobart which included a visit to Carol's favourite winery on the way home: "Puddleduck".

We are both looking forward to visits from the Qld part of our family so that we can show them around.

2009 and we're on the move!

From holidaying in Tasmania to living and working there. In May Carol begins a placement with the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania and Colin will follow as soon as he has a placement. Carol will be located in Launceston and hopefully Colin won't be too far away from Launceston - but then in Tasmania nowhere is "too far away".

Vandals in West Moonah

When Colin went outside to take Adam to work this morning they discovered that the back windscreen of our car had been smashed. Nothing had been taken and there were no signs of what had caused the damage. We called the police for the insurance claim. It looks like it was probably vandals.

No-one in Tasmania has a replacement in stock so it can't be fixed until we get to Melbourne on Monday morning. The Windscreen O'Briens people have been great and have taped a temporary plastic window in place for us. It is quite a good job and will be fine to travel to Devonport with.

It is a bit of a sad finish to the holiday, but we were lucky they didn't do anymore damage to the car. It should all be covered by insurance so that is good.

Duck Hole Lake

Duck Hole Lake

Thursday - we headed for Dover and a "short" walk which was supposed to take one hour but took us over two hours. It was an easy walk alongside a stream and when you arrived at the Lake there was even a platypus to be seen. Unfortunately it was too far away to get a photo.

Almost time to head home

We have just a few days left in Hobart. Today we headed to the east coast - just 60 kms away to do some more wine shopping. Very picturesque. The next few days are pretty laid back really - no grand plans - just a bit of looking around.

Today I posted parcels to each of the grandchildren.

Sunday we head for Devonport to catch the boat to Melbourne. Then from Melbourne to Bright where we will be staying at "The Studio", Ashwood Cottages (www.ashwoodcottages.com.au). From Bright we go to Mudgee and will be staying at "The Church" (www.thechurch-mudgee.com.au). Our last night away will be in Armidale (www.cotswoldgardens.net).
